Understanding the Chart
pH is the most important factor in determining the "real" energy boosting power of a drink. Your body runs most efficiently when your body fluids are at the proper pH value. Gardeners all know that when the soil is at the correct pH value their plants will thrive and grow vigorously. If the pH begins to get out of range the plants become weak. The further the pH goes out of range the weaker and more sickly the plants become. The same is true for your body.
Carbs- We all know that too many carbs and carbs of the wrong type can spike insulin levels and contribute to making us fat. Why would you want carbs in your sports drink?
Caffeine is great for a short term energy boost, but in the long run is like borrowing on a high interest credit card. You have to pay back a lot more energy than you borrowed to start with.
Organic foods and drinks are more poplar than ever. Would you ever consider sucking down a can of bug spray?
